Students break a star pinata during the winter "Posada" celebration. Students also learn traditional holiday songs for the celebration.

Tixkokob
Visit to a small traditional town where the main industry is hammock making. Students also learn about traditional cooking and take part in meal preparation.

Social Outing
Students enjoy a social outing with culture teacher (center). The Institute regularly organizes outings for students who wish to socialize outside of classes.
. Jarana Dance
Traditional dress and dance in front of the Palacio Municipal (City Hall) in downtown. Every Monday night, and on special holidays, residence and visitors enjoy the beautiful show of the Jarana Dance.
Valentine's Day

Beach Excursion
 An afternoon at the beach of Progeso. Progreso is a small port town located about 20 mintues from Merida.
