We want to make it possible for all
who are interested in studying in a Spanish immersion program this summer in
Merida, Yucatan to have the opportunity to
participate in a high quality program--such as offered at the Institute of Modern
Spanish--at an economical price. For that reason, we are announcing the following
promotional discounts which are effective from May 22nd through August 25th,
2006.
Promotions can not be combined-Only one discount per student!
10% Discounts
The following promotional discounts are on a two week minimum of program package
which includes 20 hours of group classes per week (9:00AM to 1:00PM or 4:00PM
to 8:00PM Monday through Friday) and shared room with full board in the home
of a host family. Only one discount per student!
--> 10% discount for ESL, Spanish,
or bilingual teachers (letter from employer required)
--> 10% discount for retired persons (age 58 and over)
--> 10% discount for groups of two or more persons (with shared room with
host family and same arrival and departure dates)
Discount is off program package price which is approximately US$320.00/week for 20 hours of group classes per week and shared room with a host family. Students may upgrade to 25 hours of group classes per week for US$38.00/week or to private housing (teacher and retired persons discounts only) for an additional US$35.00/week. No discount is taken off these upgrades. Two weeks must start no later than August 14th, 2006 in order to end before August 25th 2006.

Students enrolling in four weeks of program package which includes 20 or more
hours of group classes per week and accommodations with a host family can stay
for the fifth week FREE! The free fifth week inlcludes 20 hours of group classes
and shared room with a host family. Students may upgrade to additional hours
of group classes for US$38.00 for 5 additional hours (25 hours total), US$117.00
for 10 additional hours (30 hours total), or US$251.00 for 20 additional hours
(40 hours total). Students may upgrade to private housing for an additional
US$35.00 or US$70.00 for private plus housing. All five weeks must be consecutive
and start before July 24th, 2006 in order to end before August 25th, 2006.

2006-2007 Winter Studies Program
Our Winter Studies Program is an opportunity for you to utilize winter vacation time to study the Spanish language, experience holiday celebrations in Mérida, Yucatan, Mexico firsthand, and enjoy the warm climate of Yucatán. In addition to 35 hours of instruction in a relaxed environment, holiday celebrations with the Institute and with host families make the Winter Studies Program an unforgettable experience. We are excited about our 10th Winter Studies Program this year!

Winter
Studies Program includes 16 days of full room and board housing,
32 hours of group Spanish language instruction and cultural activities..........US$TBA

Housing
is in the home of a Mexican host family and includes three meals a day. Bedroom
and bath are shared with another student or family member. To guarantee a private
bedroom and bathroom add US$80.00 to program price listed above.

Children's Programs
The Institute of Modern
Spanish will happily arrange a children's program to accommodate children travelling
with an enrolled adult anytime throughout the year. We will also arrange for
a summer program during Summer (July) 2006. Please contact Janese Ott Ceron
for details and to be put on our Children's program mailing list for the Summer
2006 program detials. Write to students@modernspanish.com and include "Children's
program" in your subject line. We also will be arranging programs in February
and for Spring break 2007.

Teaching
practicums (practice teaching arrangements) are arranged on an individual basis.
They last for 2 to 6 weeks, depending on participant's preferences and availability
of mentor. Positions working with pre-school through junior high aged students
are available in a variety of subject areas in private, state, and federally
run schools. The Institute of Modern Spanish will arrange practicums in classrooms
with students who meet your specified area of interest (age group and subject
matter) as closely as possible. Practicums are supervised by a teacher mentor
who will report on the participant's performance. Practicums are organized along
with classes at the Institute of Modern Spanish. Class topics in Cancun are
Spanish language and Spanish conversation. Practicum hours range from 2 to 6
hours a day. Specific information regarding placement and participant's schedule
will be mailed in advance.

Work Experiences with Supplemental Spanish Classes
Work experiences are arranged on an individual basis. They last for 2 to 6 weeks, depending on participant's preferences and availability of positions. Opportunities in Business, Accounting, Dentistry, Legal Services, Hotel & Restaurant Management and Medicine. The Institute of Modern Spanish will assign students to work experience positions which meet their chosen field as closely as possible. Work experiences are performed under a supervisor or manager who will report on the participant's performance. Work experiences are organized along with classes at the Institute of Modern Spanish.
