Programs that match sports and hobbies with  ambitious Spanish-learning

During the past 15  years, students of all ages from all over the world have studied at the Institute of  Modern Spanish.  Our students share more then just their friendship. They have a dedication to learning the Spanish language and a special passion for  the Mexican culture. Many also have common interests in biking, golf, yoga, kayaking, fishing, sailing, diving or horseback riding. We also offer tours which include Mayan Mystisism.

After surveying  our students this past year, we found that the common interest are focused  mostly on outdoor activities.  But, students want more then just a walking tour through downtown or a visit to the beach. Many are interested in sports such as sea fishing or scuba diving in famous Yucatan cenotes. Others had the time of the life kayaking in the inlets near Progreso. Others say sailing in the Gulf of Mexico is great fun.  We know experts and local professionals in many of these activities.  They  are now serving as consultants and agents to small groups that originate  at the Institute.  We will soon be advertising the dates of these  programs, which will be opened to individuals several times throughout the  year for one or two week programs.  Programs include family homestay or hotel, morning or afternoon  Spanish classes, and morning or afternoon sports activities.  Schedule  depends on chosen activity. For example--it would be better to Bike or Golf in the morning hours and take Spanish classes in the afternoon while Yoga or Salsa dancing can be done in the early evening with Spanish classes in the morning. Our Magical Mayan course will put you in contact with a tour company that specilazes in the mystisism surrounding the Mayan history & culture as well as Mayan language lessons.
